Hithere, Thanks for reaching out. I am afraid you have only 4GB of memory on your machine. Minimum required is 8GB and recommended is 16GB. I'd suggest upgrading your memory as recommended.
Ifyou can upgrade your laptop's memory, it won't cost you much money or time. Moving from 4GB to 8GB of RAM (the most common upgrade) usually costs between $25 and $55, depending on whether you need to swap out a memory card or just add a few more gigs.
1 Standard advice: If you use hibernation: swap > RAM. Else make as much swap as you like (none also works). - muru. Aug 28, 2014 at 4:22. From the Ubuntu Swap FAQ: As a base minimum, it's highly recommended that the swap space should be equal to the amount of RAM. Also, it's recommended that the swap space is twice the amount of RAM
5Answers. To support more than 4 GB memory Windows uses Physical Address Extension (PAE). It uses paging tables to map the memory greater than 4 GB. By doing this the physical address size is increased to 36 bits, or 64 GB. PAE is used in 64-bit OS'es as well; in this case the maximum size is doubled to 128 GB.
Addingthe extra virtual addresses to a 32 bit will not make any 32 bit software access more than 4GB of RAM. And obviously, 64 bit software won't work in a 32 bit operating system with PAE (completely incompatible, not same architecture). There is no advantage to adding more than 4GB of RAM.
Ijust(as in i literally received it yesterday) purchased the Dell Inspiron 3511 (i3, 4GB ram, 128GB SSD) for my girlfriend. It was on sale and i know she doesn't need the best computer in the world. But futzing around with it today and looking at the performance i saw that her RAM was at 70-80% capacity at all times. Just idling doing nothing.

Youcan increase your laptop's RAM by adding additional RAM in the RAM slots present on the motherboard. PS- This may be only possible if your laptop has an additional RAM slot. Can I add 8GB RAM to a 4GB laptop? Yes, you can, however, it varies from laptop to laptop, cause every other device has a different configuration.
Withmotherboard availability and bus speed compatibility, you can easily mix 4GB and 8GB RAM together. If you want to use 4GB and 8GB RAM together, buy both RAMs of the same bus speed. But before purchasing the RAMs, confirm how much bus speed your motherboard can support. There's more that needs your concern before adding two different RAMs.
1 Maximum Memory: 8GB. Important Notes: This machine only has one memory slot, to upgrade you may need to remove the original memory and install the new memory in its place. The maximum memory you can use on this computer is 8 gb. There is only one slot. You can buy a 4 gb or 8 gb memory stick.
